The Lingnan courtyard and water town culture are reorganized here as a creative dialogue between local context and contemporary design language.

New urban landmark

In the core area of Daliang, Shunde, a 138000 square meter three-dimensional water town is breaking ground and giving birth - as the largest Wanda Plaza in South China and the first TOD commercial complex in Shunde city, it is adjacent to Shunfengshan Park to the south, connected to the cultural and sports center corridor to the west, and seamlessly connected to Metro Line 3.

The staggered and dynamic open layout creates a picturesque Lingnan courtyard and courtyard, where the water town imagery of riverbanks, fishing boats, boat canopies, mist, and waves can be seen everywhere. Through the skillful reflection of light and shadow, visitors can create a sense of confusion and coexistence of reality and illusion in the space.

The Lingnan courtyard and water multiculturalism are reconstructed here, becoming a creative dialogue between local context and contemporary design language.

#01 Design Core

The Lingnan narrative of intertwining time and space, and the three-dimensional rebirth of local culture.

△ Shunde Water Town

The flowing form of water seeps into the urban texture of Shunde, condensing into a Lingnan style that combines strength and softness. From the perspective of a deconstructionist, the design extracts the spatial genes that belong to this city from the layers of courtyards, the flying rainbow curves of arch bridges, and the dynamic flow lines of fishing boats.

The three-dimensional stacked courtyard system of "three entrances and two courtyards" is woven with steel structure art, breaking through the traditional courtyard dimension - the cold structural framework and the interweaving of soft light and shadow particles. The suspended bridge is transformed into a moving boat, and the glass curtain wall reflects the sky and clouds, reconstructing the contemporary narrative of "Fishing Boat Singing at Night" between reality and virtuality. When modern aesthetics talks about memories, commercial spaces eventually become containers of urban spirit.

Prism guided boat "is located on the entrance ceiling, with half mirrors and frosted blocks stacked to create a distorted tunnel of time and space. Each frame of the mirror image is like being on a river boat surrounded by smoke and clouds.

△The image of fishing boats swaying and swaying

Deconstructing the Lingnan fishing boat into a four story three-dimensional spatial art installation, the suspended boat shaped bridge is framed with hollow garden holes to form the "Sky Moon Gate". Half mirror stainless steel and dynamic LCD light and shadow dance together, creating a misty atmosphere between reality and virtuality.

The eaves light track spreads like ripples, and the skylight grille deconstructs sunlight into jumping musical notes. Walking among them feels like stepping into a boat of time and space where light and shadow flow.

West Courtyard

△The image of leisurely walking by the river

Four sets of staggered broken lines and bridges form a spatial montage, and the stainless steel surface of the geometric section has a delicate texture and distinct texture. When warm light seeps out from the narrow crevice, the cold and hard metal canyon seems like a stream of light flowing out.

△Refractive image of water surface

In the design, the connecting bridges are arranged in a staggered manner, and the perspectives switch intermittently while strolling. People experience not only the flow of water, but also a parade art about the reflection of water surface and the folds of time.

△Reproduce the light and shadow space of the moonlit courtyard

△Moonlit Pool Reflects Imagery

A vertical light hole with a diameter of 18 meters runs through four layers of space, and the sea based fabric and soft film create a misty texture of light.

When natural light passes through this layer of light and shadow filter and falls on the curved wall, it miraculously reproduces the hazy poetry of the Lingnan oyster shell window. The circular entrance light and skylight work together to create layers of light and shadow changes, creating the beauty of the "water reflection" atmosphere.

△Oystershell Window Imagery

The design reconstructs the traditional mortise and tenon form with stainless steel, reproducing oyster shell windows. Convert the original building skylight into a parameterized light and shadow matrix - a grid composed of customized components, projecting light spots towards dawn.

#02 Local Revolution of Spatial Flow Line

Breaking through the shackles of traditional complex floor fragmentation

Organic linkage between underground and above ground spaces

△Organic linkage between above ground and underground

The sunken courtyard reconstructs the spatial logic with "vertical alleys", continuing the block style layout of the sunken courtyard, connecting the overall commercial atmosphere indoors and outdoors, and blending and coexisting the indoor and outdoor scene atmosphere here.

△Folding courtyard imagery

Design a three-dimensional courtyard theater in the sky based on the aesthetic of Lingnan courtyard enclosure. The atrium is equipped with two LCD screens, high and low, which can host contemporary art exhibitions and instantly transform into an immersive cultural salon, allowing traditional architectural genes to continue evolving in metal and light and shadow.

The image of misty water mist

The skylight is designed as an inverted gray tile eave, and the water patterned stainless steel bridge deconstructs the sky light into sparkling waves on the water surface. The linear light strip at the eaves reflects this mechanism, and the stainless steel hangs down like a galaxy, forming a dialogue between heaven and earth with the artificial stone pavement on the ground.

Transforming a flat layout into a three-dimensional construction

Image of neighborhood alleys

The East Courtyard reconstructs the memories of the water filled alleyways with minimalism, and the staggered terraces form a vertical street market.

△The image of rippling water waves

The water patterned stainless steel at the bottom of the bridge and the warm colored light rails weave a latitude and longitude network of light, and the GRG blocks at the high entrance collide dramatically with the flowing light and shadow curtain wall of the skylight, making the commercial space an endless urban cultural exhibition venue.

“Three houses and two chambers”

Gaoqu Market

△Extracting the traditional layout of Lingnan courtyards

The "Three Entrances and Two Houses" space is transplanted with the Lingnan Three Entrances courtyard pattern, and a visual highlight is formed by implanting capsule glass shops in the space. The integration of field textured platforms with themed dining and cultural salons allows social interaction to occur at the intersection of old and new time and space.

#03 Re translation of Scene Space

Reconstruction of Virtual Reality Narrative

Reconstruction of Dialogue Order between Human Consciousness and the Material World

△Mirror flower water moon imagery

The triangular mirror surfaces of "Wave Light Overlapping Shadow" are haphazardly combined, reflecting rapidly changing waves of light.

The stuffy ceiling is like a changing mirror three-dimensional painting, where citizens coexist with light and space. The entire courtyard is filled with illusions and surprises.

Palace lanterns inherit the rhythm ", the hexagonal palace lanterns transform into buttons, and traditional symbols and metal touch to create a rhythm that transcends time.

△Red sandstone imagery

The color tones precipitate the memories of the Danxia landform interwoven with the earth and time.

#04Future City Life

△Night View

This is not only a shopping mall, but also a contemporary translation venue for the cultural context of the water town. When the flow of people on the railway enters this "three-dimensional water town", the process of shopping in the mall also becomes a journey of tracing the origin of Lingnan culture.

The consumption space is transformed into a humanistic theater, and consumption behavior becomes a ritual of social interaction. Each customer is interpreting their own life script, and every carefully constructed light and shadow fold tells the local history and urban story, presenting the poetic and humanistic experience of courtyard evolution and Lingnan life.
