STUDIO SYMBIOIST Studio has announced the plan for the ID ORIGINS Mumbai headquarters building
The building is located in the dense urban fabric of southern Mumbai, India. Symbiosis Studio has revitalized the ID Origins headquarters building through multifunctional design and organic geometric facade measures. This project is a new visual landmark in the city, enhancing the structural system of the low rise Dudhwala complex built in the 1980s by adding 12 floors of residential space on top of the original 6-story office structure. In order to combine the two functional blocks together, the building facade is transformed using corrugated aluminum composite panels (acp), woven with exquisite calligraphic strokes to blend the old and new volumes into a cohesive facade surface, while also changing the monotonous urban environment.

The undulating corrugated aluminum composite panel (ACP) integrates multiple functional spaces
Symbiosis Studio utilizes the advantage of ID Origins' headquarters located in the bustling urban landscape center to integrate multifunctional spaces into the existing commercial functional structural system, and adds an additional 12 floors of residential space on top of it. A full-length load transfer beam connects two volumes and adds additional protruding peripheral support columns to support the building structure as a whole. The architectural team integrated two levels of blocks to conceal the newly inserted partially displaced structure, designed a unique rhythmic facade, and highlighted the vertical lines of the tower, allowing the building to stand out from the monotonous urban landscape.
The perforated corrugated aluminum plates arranged in parallel are swept along the glass exterior wall in an organic V-shaped brush stroke, and the upward trend of the structure gradually weakens. The glass with an opening fan is embedded between the aluminum panels of the upper body block, while the glass with fixed windows makes the office facade more uniform. The corrugated aluminum panel elements continue to unfold at the bottom of the building, reducing solar glare and providing the best illumination level for commercial podiums. At the same time, they gradually become thinner along the residential floor lines, providing residents with a panoramic view of the city landscape from the maximum viewing angle. Due to the regular plan outline of the building and the use of lightweight materials on the facade, the undulating aluminum panels can be flexibly constructed, reducing construction costs and shortening construction time by 6 months.

Enhance the urban landscape of Mumbai
The renovation project extends beyond the construction site and permeates into the dense urban fabric of Mumbai. The new facade emphasizes the surrounding urban landscape, creating visual and functional landmarks for the site spanning over 12 acres. In addition, Symbiosis Studio has re planned the entrance and exit of the site, reducing congestion on the entrance roads, widening the walkways near the site, eliminating the boundary between the site and the city, and creating a city living room, making the site a part of Mumbai's streetscape.
