The Breeze Hall is located in the most important commemorative park in Shanghai - Lu Xun Park. Its predecessor was a mixed forest on the south side of the Lu Xun Memorial Hall, which was fenced off as a corner of the park and became a fragment of urban development, forgotten by people. In 2023, SHISUO will reorganize this site - some scattered trees on the site will be transplanted to the south side of the building, forming a pedestrian walkway with the existing row of trees in front of the memorial hall, and providing a buffer boundary for the new building. Other trees will be transplanted to the two wings of the site, forming a large enclosed open space. Large wooden and bamboo groves will be preserved, and the newly placed flow line will cleverly match them, becoming a landscape in the path transition. These adjustments give the site more public nature. On the west side of the World Literary and Artistic Square, the trees provide shade, and the elderly in the city gather here to chat, sing, and dance. It is a daily routine here, and the Breeze Hall is located next to it.

Design needs to solve two problems - how to achieve high-quality construction in the face of limited cost budget and construction period; How to shape landmark spiritual buildings and coordinate them with the surrounding environment in the face of the chaotic situation.

The main building consists of wing like steel truss and landscape like base, with the truss suspended above the base. The slender steel frame array is arranged in a light and transparent manner while balancing the amount of steel used and structural efficiency. The I-beam column with a cross-section of only 100 * 150mm supports an open space with a length of 42m, a span of 15m, and a height of 12m, serving the needs of weddings, events, exhibitions, and gatherings.
Prefabricated perforated panels are used as roofing materials, and the modular assembly ensures fast on-site construction. The dense and porous materials provide visual sensations of different scales, appearing simple at first glance and tangible upon closer inspection. The double-layer perforated panel also serves as a filter between the internal space and the external environment - calm on cloudy days and gentle on sunny days. The shape of the roof transforms into a raised cut at the entrance, inviting people to enter. The interior space is towering and spacious, like a blank canvas, allowing users to add color in the future.

The low eaves filtered out the noise of the opposite commercial street, revealing only the reflection of the pool and the sprawling grassland. Here, air currents, light, and bird songs pass by, while the chaotic world is blocked outside. The landscape like pedestal interacts with the site in various ways, either becoming a step up the stairs and a viewing bench, or becoming a bridge connecting buildings and grasslands, or transforming into a waterfront platform.

Internally, the pedestal rises and solidifies into an abstract house, reminiscent of a silent monument or tower. The canyon like staircase behind it leads people to a higher platform, where they can admire the framed view of the roof and the changing light and shadow; The two side windows introduce light into the interior, allowing people to look back at the entrance. Every morning, the sun rises from behind it, and its halo gives it a mysterious and sacred color.

We intentionally depict its sacred side, because the sacred space is meant to celebrate the poetic moments of ordinary daily life. Under the distinction and juxtaposition of secular and sacred, people are able to discover that life is not homogeneous. Crying and laughing, losing and gaining, worldly and sacred They are all essential parts that make up a person. All of this exists in everyone's body, and divinity always appears on the side of daily life.

When entering from the city road, stepping on the quaint stone steps, passing through a bamboo forest, the gravel rustles under your feet. Grasping the sliding door tightly may leave some rust marks. As it slid, it entered the corridor, and the gentle slope gradually rose. During this process, there were no traces of the auditorium, only the hanging shadows of trees and the long corridor.
The sunlight shines through the cut at the end of the corridor, guiding you once again into a gravel courtyard, finally allowing you to gaze at the facade hidden behind the branches. Walking into it again, under the shadow of the eaves, climbing up the stairs with footsteps, the traces of the external world are further peeled off The path of detachment has gone through several twists and turns, leaving the main space of the auditorium floating outside the environment. After repeated "concealment and manifestation", the desire to arrive has become long-lasting.

The Breeze Hall is regarded as a shelter that carries the collective memory of the city. In addition to its stunning, towering, and super scale ceremonial space, it is also filled with human scale details and material processing - the low hanging eaves intentionally divert rainwater to the pool and collect it, with minimal reliance on artificial replenishment; The double-layer perforated panel relies on the contour of the roof truss to achieve the effect of wind pulling, and the gap left at the ridge is linked with the evaporation of the water pool, forming a local climate with gentle breeze flow. Even in the hot summer, there is a cool breeze passing through it;
Inside the second floor platform, the beige plaster has a gentle touch, giving the space a texture like skin. The armrest of the window is transformed into a curved surface, which is easier to fit with the palm and allows people to park for longer periods of time; A sufficient number of sockets are hidden behind the ground and columns, and the hanging points on the ridge leave sufficient load, providing diverse possibilities for activity layout; As far as the line of sight goes, the force logic of the roof truss is clearly displayed, making the construction itself a detail that characterizes the space.

The care for the details is not limited to this - during construction, we noticed that small animals would come here to drink water, so we convinced the owner not to put algae removal agents in the pool. After completion, this area will become a water source for many small animals in the park, nurturing small creatures such as birds, lizards, stray cats, and dogs; On rainy nights, the auditorium became their refuge. From the city to people, from nature to animals, this building embraces and nourishes all life.
At this point, amidst the forest, historical memorial hall, and commercial buildings, a modern auditorium that is open to the city and integrated with the surrounding environment, presenting a light, transparent, and ceremonial feeling, has been completed.

In just six months after its opening, the Breeze Hall has become a generator of urban public activities, hosting a series of socially influential public cultural events, such as the Cherry Blossom Season Cultural Market (Yinyan SPACE), the first Happy Home Exhibition (Red Book RED), the International Yoga Day event (PURE YOGA), the Healing Poetry Exhibition (SOUL APP&Shanghai Mental Health Center), and the Luo Yiwei Autumn and Winter Fashion Show (LOEWE).
Not only has it created huge economic benefits and improved the quality of urban space, but it has also been sought after by citizens. With the occurrence of these public activities, the Breeze Hall has gained over 30000 views on social media, and has become a new landmark in Shanghai's arts and culture. We hope that in the near future, this building will create more opportunities for people's happiness and become an indispensable piece of collective memory in the flow of time.

Architecture will always disappear, while meaning points to immortality. At the moment of sunset every day, as the sun shines through the branches of the forest and illuminates the Breeze Hall, moving light and shadow float on its heavy and enduring triangular facade, soothing those who set out to return home in those brief moments. Sacred and everyday, seemingly completely different in time and space, human life always occurs between the two, and in this constant transition, we are able to reach new heights.
